"ah ah aaah" - almost 18 months

hana has a book with an elmo hand puppet in it and she likes to look at it and point out the sesame street characters: "eh'mooo" (elmo), "cookieee" (cookie monster), "gro'er" (grover) and "ah aaah" (the count - like his laugh). that last one is my favorite. so, so, so funny.

at night-night time, she is continues to add additional steps to the routine. soon, it will take us hours to get her to bed! it's hard to cut her off though cuz she's so darn cute! currently, we have a bath, and then read a bunch of books and then she wants to blow on the fishie mobile (but she doesn't want to take the pacifier out to do it), and then night-night cuddles from mommy and daddy, and then she needs no less than 17 million stuffed animals kissed and cuddled in the crib with her and then we can usually back out. but usually within the hour of putting her down, i miss her and just want to cuddle a little more, but i contain myself.

unlike the early days when hana ate like a linebacker, she eats more like a traditional toddler. i think she eats well at daycare, but at home, most meals are hit and miss. she's asks for "cereoooh" all the time and is frequently dissapointed because she can only have cereal if she's eaten a decent dinner (or for breakfast if we're serving it to her). so on this night, hana gotta to have some cereal. she was most pleased.

and then this is what happened when she was done with the cereal...

jon and i took this video one night after dinner. she was a regular chatter box that night (wonder where she got that) so we tried to capture that for the blogosphere (especially the grandparents). but wouldn't you know it, she got camera shy so she wasn't as expressive as usual. as you can see, most of the time, when she communicates with us, she uses both her word/pronunciation (for example "epicank" for "elephant") and the sign. and thank god for that because half the time, we wouldn't know what the heck she's talking about. especially because sometimes she says the same word for a bunch of different things, but uses the correct sign. for example, she says "cookie" to refer to cookie monster (which i guess really doesn't have a sign but she's usually pointing at him), an actual cookie, and what she most commonly uses it for is cracker. but wait until she says "'love you"... it melts our hearts every time.
